Materials for stone pavements and facings

  • Limestone – Limestone is a white sedimentary rock composed primarily of calcium carbonate. According to their origin, limestones can be hemogenic, biogenic and clastic (built from redeposited pieces of limestone). It is long lasting and holds up well to exposure. Limestone has been and continues to be a very popular building material because it is durable and is often found in easily accessible surface exposures. It is mainly used for cladding buildings.

  • Travertine - Travertine is a polycrystalline material formed from calcium carbonate minerals (aragonite and to a lesser extent calcite). It belongs to the group of marbles, it is porous and has a low density. Due to the crystalline grain structure, it polishes well. Travertine often has a fibrous or concentric appearance and exists in white, yellowish and cream types, used as a building material. The Colosseum is the largest building in the world made mostly of travertine. It can be sanded, antiqued or polished to a smooth, shiny finish and is available in a variety of colors. Until the 1980s, Italy had a near monopoly on the world travertine market; significant quantities are now mined in Turkey, Iran, Mexico and Peru.

  • Marble – As a natural natural stone, marble is distinguished by a wide variety of colors. This variety and good strength characteristics make it a preferred material in construction. It has high resistance to heat and humidity. This should not be forgotten and taken into account when designing a building and its facade. It is one of the most beautiful natural stones, and polished stone slabs can convey a refined and very beautiful appearance.

  • Onyx – A natural natural semi-precious stone, a variation of chalcedony and part of the quartz group. It is suitable for lining external and internal walls, because it has very good properties - the high level of vapor permeability is this property of onyx, which makes it a preferred material for interior solutions. Onyx stands out because it is a translucent stone that lets light through when illuminated from behind. It is used in the decoration of interior architectures that must attract attention, such as: cladding facades, foyers, in the decoration of receptions, etc.

  • Granite - Granite is one of the most common igneous rocks. It has excellent indicators such as: low water absorption and high resistance to atmospheric influences. It has very high strength characteristics and is widely used in construction. It is one of the most applied materials.

  • Basalt – It is one of the most durable building materials. It is used both in the exterior of the building and for exterior solutions, such as plinths of buildings. The main component in the composition of basalt is silicon dioxide. The rock was obtained as a result of the eruption of volcanoes and the subsequent cooling of the lava.
